David McCoy Memorial

.

Friends members digging hole for memorial

The Friends group placed a memorial plague to honor David McCoy, one of the founders of the group.  It is located in front of the Kiosk that was designed and built by David with help from other Friends members.  David was a member of the original steering committee and served as Treasurer.  In that capacity he did all of the paperwork required by the IRS to obtain the 501C tax-exempt status.  His work became the model for other Tennessee "Friends" groups to file for tax-exempt status as well.

David enjoyed the park in every aspect, from hiking and watching wildlife to laying out trails and maintaining them.  He would be pleased to see how the Friends group has flourished and would be proud of the many projects completed and planned for the future.

Bill Catron built the monument himself with concrete donated by Concrete Materials, Inc.
