Norris Blackburn was honored for his lifelong work for wildlife, the state parks, and the outdoors by a dedication ceremony of the "Norris C. Blackburn, Jr. Wildlife Observatory at Panther Creek.  Norris worked to make the Friends group a reality by serving on the original Steering Committee and as the first editor of the newsletter.  Norris has been one of the most respected nature writers and photographers in the southeast.  His articles have appeared in newspapers throughout Tennessee and in Southern Living.
